FireQ Glossary

Activity Management and Tracking - Create, track and manage other activities regularly performed by firefighters in your department such as fundraising activities.

Apparatus & Equipment Management and Tracking - Create, track and manage fire department inventory, apparatus and equipment, complete with maintenance logs and expiry reminder notifications.

Apparatus Service Status - Quickly and easily mark an apparatus out of service when it is not available. Apparatus service status can be monitored from the FireQ app and from the Q-Board within the FireQ software.

Asset/Hazard Mapping - Track water sources, other assets, and hazards in your community. Easily share the data with neighbouring departments with our fire department mapping software. This data is available both in app and desktop software.

Benchmarking - Benchmarks help firefighters assess and record the situational points on the fireground. The FireQ system includes some common benchmarks, as well as the ability to create custom benchmarks.

CAD Support - Full support for CAD systems to send dispatch alerts via text, phone, push notification and/or email.

Certificate & Training Management and Tracking – Create, track, and manage training certificates held by firefighters, complete with expiry notification reminders.

Companies – Add custom companies for the purposes of messaging and dispatching.

Comprehensive Permissions Control - Detailed and specific permissions control for each member of your fire department allows you to manage data and system access efficiently.

Customized Message Groups - Create customized communication groups for more targeted communications. Groups within a fire department with their own unique codes can also be paged through PageQ as a separate group.

Dispatch Support - Full support for dispatch centers not using CAD systems to send dispatch alerts via text, phone, push notification and/or email.

Driving Directions - When responding to a scene detailed turn-by-turn directions are available in the FireQ app.

Family Notification – Firefighters can select up to two recipients to receive a courtesy message via email to notify which members of the fire department are responding to an emergency.

File Storage – Each Fire Q subscription includes 1G of data storage.

Fire Department Linking - Send invitations to link your fire department with neighbouring departments to share asset and mapping information.

Firefighter Availability - Firefighters can share their availability status by indicating when they are off duty and when they will return to duty.

Firefighter Statistics - Simplify firefighter personnel management by tracking hours of service, incident and training attendance, service awards, certificates acquired, and equipment issued.

FireQ Notification Center – A hub for the information and notifications that you want to share with firefighters, as well as reminders for expiring equipment and certifications.

Incident History – From the FireQ app, firefighters can review a list of the recent incidents to which they have responded.

Incident Reporting - Automatic creation of incident reports and responder population. Compatibility with Fire Marshall reporting requirements are available for some jurisdictions. Incident Types – Add custom incident types based on what the fire department responds to most often.

Message Scheduling & Bulletins – Messages and bulletins can be scheduled to be released on a day and time of your selection. A digital bulletin board in the FireQ Notification Center lets you post important notices. The information is sent to firefighters via push notification and text and appears in the dashboard until an expiry date you set.

Messaging - Multiple channels of communication for internal firefighter communication notification that includes member-to-member messaging and group customization.

Messaging Groups – Firefighters can create specific groups for messing and dispatch purposes.

Multiple Communication Channels – Receive station text alerts, phone calls, push notifications and phone calls directly from dispatch. Unlike most firefighter communication systems, FireQ send a true-type SMS text message.

Operating Strength – A visual representation of operational strength is available on the Q-Board.

PageQ Pre-Alerts – An alert to indicate that a tone has been detected and that a page with additional information will follow.

Q-Board - Like the dashboard in your car that displays data the driver needs, the Q-Board places fire department information that firefighters need in one place. It presents fire department data visually making it easy to read and assess.

Q-Hub - The Q-Hub is a place to store such resources as documents and external links that can be accessed by firefighters from the FireQ app. Resources stored can also be marked with high security so that they can only be accessed by firefighters who have been granted the appropriate permissions.

Responders List - A responder’s list, complete with estimated times of arrival is available in the software and in the FireQ phone app for firefighters.

Responders List – Firefighters can see a complete list of responders in both the FireQ app and software.

Responders on the Map - Activated only when a fire department is dispatched to an emergency, firefighters can appear on the incident responding map; and they will remain on the map, allowing incident commanders to know their location, until the incident is closed. Each individual firefighter controls if they appear on the map and when.

Response Log Management – The response log lets fire department managers see the response history of any firefighter in your department.

Safety Pre-plans - Easily attach pre-plan documents to your department asset map using the FireQ fire department software.

Self-Dispatch Options – Multiple self-dispatch options are available in the firefighter software and in the FireQ phone app.

Serving in More than One Department - Firefighters who are members of more than one fire department can respond to multiple departments within the FireQ app.

Stand Down – Stand down messages can be sent to firefighters who may not have arrived on scene.

Station Dispatch – Station dispatch is a one-button, self-dispatch option within the FireQ app that sends firefighters a generic message to report to the fire station for an ongoing emergency.

System Settings – Customize the look of the dashboard, add custom incidents, create groups and other system personalization settings are available for FireQ.

Years of Service – Track the total number of years a firefighter has served the fire service, including previous service in other fire departments.
